In-Home Maternity Photoshoot in Samford CT

I first met Brittany and Kyle at their pregnancy announcement and have been looking forward to their maternity session ever since! Most of the time I photography maternity sessions outside or occasionally at the studio, but rarely do my clients request an in-home maternity session! Brittany and Kyle did though, and my goodness, it was the sweetest session.

Prior to the session, we chose dresses for Brittany that we felt worked really well for an in-home maternity session. The first was a little more casual and boho and the second a little more classic, and they paired really well together. Aliza was also able to go and pamper Brittany with hair and makeup just before I arrived. Trust me, Moms, take the time to do this for your session- you deserve it!

I say it often, but it’s just so true- there is something special about those final days leading up to the arrival of your first baby. There’s so much excitement in preparing your home, especially the nursery, and imagining all the ways that your life is about to change. Being able to document this stage within the walls of their home in Samford CT is something that Brittany and Kyle will never forget.

The entire session was just so sweet. Brittany is beautiful inside and out and Kyle absolutely adores her. Hudson, their French bulldog, also made an appearance.

We took photos all throughout their home, and one of the things I love most about the homes in Samford is the character. They have a beautiful window along the front that lets in the dreamiest light, and a window seat that made for the most beautiful photos. Brittany and Kyle have also prepared the most beautiful nursery for their baby girl. I cannot wait to come back and photograph her newborn session with her snuggled up to Mom and Dad.

It’s been really sweet getting to witness these two go through pregnancy and prepare for the arrival of their first baby. Lucky for me, I get to document her first year and I cannot wait!

In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Session in Darien, CT

Sometimes as photographers, it can be hard to navigate the business side of things. For years I went back and forth on the experience I wanted to offer my clients. I let fear get in the way. But the past year and a half, I have worked so hard to change that- for my clients.

So when I received this Mama’s inquiry that said, “I’m really hoping to work with someone who can help me plan, come up with a vision, capture some timeless, beautiful shots we can have forever, but most of all make this super easy and stress-free,” I knew all of the hard work was worth it. The truth is, so many parents want to have these moments with their babies documented but are often overwhelmed with pregnancy and all that comes with welcoming a new baby, particularly for first-time parents. Add a pandemic year into the mix and it’s a lot.

From start to finish, my team and I take care of everything. Planning, styling, hair and makeup, the session itself, and then ensuring you have tangible products of the memories you have created. Each step and every little detail has been thought out with you in mind so that it can be easy and stress-free.

As you can imagine, I was so excited for this baby girl’s in-home lifestyle newborn session. Mom and Dad wanted to take their first photos as a family of three in their new home in Darien. Angelina, one of our hair and makeup artists was there to pamper Mom, and I brought a few dresses for her from the KWP Client Collection. Mom chose a white dress with a mix of sheer and lace detail and looked beautiful. After that, we started with photos and had the best in-home lifestyle newborn session!

The light was dreamy and baby girl, Willa, has the most precious nursery. Willa was so sweet and loved to be swaddled, but insisted on having her hands curled up under her chin. She cuddled up on Mom and Dad and slept most of her session, but was sure to wake up and stretch at the end. I always love those photos!

Rye, NY In Home Newborn Session | Rye Newborn Photographer

I was so excited when I got the inquiry from this sweet family for an in-home newborn session in Rye, NY. Rye is the cutest little coastal town outside of NYC with the most beautiful homes. Baby Isla makes their fourth girl and oh my goodness, she and her sisters are so sweet!

Due to Covid, Jaclyn wasn’t sure if she was going to be able to get newborn photos taken for their newest little girl. I was so glad she reached out and I was able to assure her we could do an in-home newborn session safely. I have worked very hard, including talking with doctors, about the best practices to protect you and your families. You can read more about that HERE. 

Angelina with BeautyMarked Studio joined me to pamper Jaclyn in their home in Rye. While she was getting pampered, I started Isla’s newborn session. I’ll typically do this to help save time but it’s also the perfect time to get photos of Daddy + baby and then the proud big sisters with baby. It also gives Mama a few minutes to herself to relax!

Wardrobe 

One of the biggest hurdles to getting newborn or family photos taken is the stress over what everyone will wear. That’s why I have made it my mission to include wardrobe for all KWP families. This can be particularly helpful when you have multiple children.

Mama + the 3 big sisters are all wearing dresses from the KWP client closet. I, of course, love the clean, modern all-white look that we went with in this modern style home. This can work (and look really good!) when we mix different patterns and styles. I just adore the dresses Mama chose for her girls!

I cannot get over how sweet these girls were, and I am so excited to see how their bonds grow over time. Enjoy a peek into Isla’s in-home newborn session!

In-Home Newborn Session in Darien, CT | Darien Lifestyle Newborn Photographer

Not everyone knows this, but I am not originally from Connecticut. I’m a recent New England transplant from Arkansas to Darien, CT. This super sweet Momma is originally from Texas and then she and her husband recently moved to Darien from NYC. It’s always so much fun to connect with other Southerners, so I was excited when she reached out about doing an in-home session in their new home here in Darien. 

They live in a Tudor style home, full of vintage details and a beautiful archway we used for some photos! I cannot wait to see the gallery we have planned for their stairwell grow over the years! 

I brought Mom a selection of dresses from the client closet and loved the blue color she chose. It matched well with the colors in their home. There were so many beautiful spots in their home, we used lots of rooms for their session! I always look for the rooms with the best light and the prettiest details.

Barrett is the sweetest little guy and you can just feel how much he is loved. He was alert for part of the session, which made for some of the sweetest photos of him looking at Momma and Daddy! It didn’t take long before he snuggled up on Mom and Dad and fell asleep.

Before I knew it, he was awake again and showed us his personality. Those, along with the little details of his hands and feet, are some of my favorite images from his in-home newborn session.

New Canaan Connecticut In Home Newborn Session

2020 has been a year - for all of us. As a Connecticut Newborn Photographer, I have worked hard to navigate the balance between following our state guidelines and still providing clients with timeless portraits. For some babies born during the pandemic, like baby Cameron, that has meant a slight delay. So you can imagine my excitement when it came time for this New Canaan Connecticut in-home newborn session.

Cameron was almost 3 months old when we did his newborn session. Typically we photograph newborn sessions within the first month, but I’ve found I really love photographing this age! It’s not a milestone most newborn or family photographers document - it’s more of an in-between stage where they aren’t really doing much, but still really exciting! Plus…Mom and Dad are a little more rested. It’s all about the silver linings, right?

The newborn session wasn’t the only exciting milestone though! Mom + Dad recently bought this house in New Canaan and it’s absolutely stunning! It’s light and bright with tons of windows and everything I could dream of, both personally and for a newborn session!

The nursery is so adorable. I loved the nautical theme and personal details. The vintage photos were taken by Cameron’s grandparents! Cameron and his best little dog pal seemed to love it too!

2020 may have brought some lows and a lot of uncertainty, but it has also brought a lot of really sweet highs! First baby + first house is something to celebrate and I am honored they chose me. I cannot wait to see the walls and entryway of their New Canaan home filled with beautifully framed prints of memories we capture together over the years!

Mom and Dad chose a beautiful heirloom album in a natural linen color with gold embossing on the front. They also chose 3 beautiful framed prints. Mom wanted the corner of her bedroom filled so we designed and installed 2 of the frames there. She also wants to grow a gallery wall for her entryway so we started with one family portrait and will continue to add to it over time.

It was quite the honor to be able to hand-deliver and install their first family portrait together in their first home as a family in New Canaan!

Greenwich Lifestyle Newborn Photographer | Greenwich, CT Photographer

There are a lot of perks to being a Greenwich Lifestyle Newborn Photographer and one of those is getting to see the most beautiful, serene nurseries! This sweet girl’s nursery was so calming, I could have spent the whole day in there. And I can’t lie…the neutral design with little pops of green and dreamy light just sent my newborn photographers heart soaring. We are going to add two framed prints to the nursery as well and I cannot wait to see it all come together!

Just when I thought I was showing up to photograph their baby girl I was greeted by the most adorable little girl, Chloe. She stole the show, wanted to be in all the photos and couldn’t get enough of her baby sister!

In-Home Newborn Session in Greenwich, CT | Greenwich Newborn Photographer

I am convinced there is nothing sweeter than a brand new baby and older siblings! This in-home newborn session in Greenwich, CT was a joy to photograph. Big brother and big sister were completely smitten with their baby brother and you’ll quickly see why!

As much as I love my Darien studio, I love getting to come to your homes for lifestyle newborn sessions! You’d never know this was this sweet family’s first time having professional photos taken. They were all complete naturals! In-home photoshoots can be helpful when you have older children or if anyone is camera shy. Sometimes the comfort of your own home helps everyone relax. And not to worry Moms - you still get the same experience and pampering from our hair and makeup artists!

I loved getting to see Mom and Dad’s reactions during their reveal session. After selecting their favorite images, we designed two different wall galleries for their home - one in the master and one in the nursery. I cannot wait to get those installed so the entire family can enjoy them for years to come!

Westport Connecticut In Home Newborn Session | First Glimpse

This Westport Connecticut in home newborn session was a dream. This sweet couple recently moved into their Westport home and created the most beautiful nursery for their first baby. They love white as much as I do so their home matched my style so perfectly! They also have the cutest Doxie ever and I just love having dogs and newborns together!

I cannot wait to share this sweet baby boy and his family with you. I was honored Mom and Dad chose me to be their Westport Newborn Photographer. I get to spend the next year documenting little Chase grow and to say I am excited would be an understatement. I adore this family and cannot wait to preserve these memories for them. First up, Chase’s in-home newborn session in Westport, CT.

In-home Lifestyle Newborn Session

In-home sessions are a chance to capture your family in the most authentic way, in the most comfortable and special setting - the place you call home. The place you bring your brand new baby home. The place you spend your days and nights. The place you spend hours cuddling them, playing with them and loving them. Home. It’s more than walls and beautiful decor. It’s where your family grows. And it’s an honor to be welcomed into it.

For lifestyle photoshoots in your home, light is very important. There are several factors that can affect light - weather, window size and direction, wall color and decor. If the weather is bad at the time of your session, I will often recommend that we reschedule. But depending on the light available in your home, we may have some flexibility. Thankfully, most of the homes here in Connecticut (and here in this Westport home) have plenty of windows, and some are placed perfectly for one of my favorite types of images. You’ll have to scroll to see!

Wall color and decor are important too. While white walls and neutral decor are not necessary, they do lend well to my light and airy style. Light walls also help reflect light, whereas darker walls can cast shadows.

There may be one season that pulls me away from my love for all things white and neutral though and that is CHRISTMAS! I was so excited to be able to photograph part of Chase’s newborn session in their family room with the Christmas tree. Between the newborn bliss and holiday cheer, this newborn session filled my heart with so much joy. I hope it does yours too!

Glimpse: A Beautiful Westport Connecticut in Home Newborn Session | Connecticut Newborn Photography

I’ve got a sneak at a gorgeous in home newborn session out of Westport Connecticut today! I loved documenting this sweet family in their gorgeous home. This brand new baby boy was a dream for his newborn photo session!

When I arrived Mom was still getting ready so I got a chance to walk around the house to find all the perfect places to shoot. And I also got to bond with this little “big sister”! She was such a doll and we hit it off right away! I brought some outfits for Mom, but she had the perfect outfit already (and a crop top what?! I wish I looked 1/10th as good as Lauren after giving birth…or now! Lol!). And we put sister in this pleated gray dress that I brought and it could not have been a more perfect match with Mom! I just loved how that worked out!

New Canaan In Home Newborn Session | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

I introduced you to Jason and Stephanie of New Canaan, CT yesterday during their gorgeous maternity session. Well today I am excited to bring baby Olivia’s In Home Newborn Session to the blog! She is such a little doll baby!

This in-home session gives me all the feels. I go back and forth on whether I prefer studio or in home, but lately in-home has been winning the argument! They are so real and natural at home with your things. And I love getting a few photos in that nursery you have worked so hard on!

I brought Stephanie several wardrobe options for her session, and she picked the perfect dress for her session. It looks so beautiful on her and looked great with their home decor. My makeup artist met us at their home and did Stephanie’s makeup while I took the photos of Olivia in her nursery.

As you will see, their pup joined us for the session too. I’m obsessed with dogs and Lola became my BFF (and pretty much stole the show). This is one of my most favorite in home sessions to date and I’m sure you can see why!

I’m so excited to get to watch Olivia grow up this year!
