Outdoor Newborn Session in Connecticut | Sherwood Island Photoshoot

When the regulations came out for photographers and we learned we could do outdoor newborn sessions in Connecticut, I was so happy. And guess what? I also discovered I LOVE outdoor newborn sessions. Seriously, if the weather could be this beautiful all year, I would do them outside alllllll the time!

I can almost guarantee you have never seen a sweeter big sister than Sophie! I am not sure who was happier between the two of us. She was just so happy, loved to kiss her baby sister, and was also a big fan of my Moses basket. I have been bringing it for outdoor newborn sessions because it allows me to get some of those simple baby-only photos while keeping a distance and also keeping them off of the ground.

When we transitioned to outdoor newborn sessions, I had to consider locations that would allow for shade but also wanted to make sure I could deliver images consistent with what my clients expect. Sherwood Island is perfect because there are a lot of trees but the light is always so beautiful. I tend to start in the fields and then move down to the beach closer to sunset.

I am so excited that even with Covid, I am able to still offer hair and makeup. Our hair and makeup artists with BeautyMarked Studio received COVID certifications and wear masks at all times.

Momma chose a beautiful white dress with lace detail from the client closet. Big sister is wearing a precious little eyelet dress and we kept it simple with baby sister in a classic white swaddle + headband. This tends to make it pretty simple for Dad and we just had him wear a white button-down with light khaki pants.

I love the all-white combination and mixing up the fabrics and textures. Styling appointments happen via Facetime right now to minimize in-person contact. We set up a time and go through the colors and styles that best suit your family. Your selections are available for contactless pickup the day prior to your session at my studio!

First Birthday Field Session in New Canaan Connecticut | Fairfield County Family Photographer

So excited to show you guys this ADORABLE family and cake smash session at the field in Connecticut! This family was a gem to work with and baby Cooper was just the happiest little guy ever!

I styled Mom and Baby from the client closet for this session using virtual styling (thanks to Covid) and their outfits could not have been more perfect for them. We did some gorgeous portraits first with the whole family, Mom + Cooper, Dad + Cooper, and of course Cooper all by himself. At the very end of the session we broke out the cake and Cooper went to town on that cake! We used my vintage high chair which works so well for cake smash sessions outdoors to keep the cake mess from mixing with the dirt! I

My First Outdoor Newborn Sessions in Connecticut

I’m so excited to show you a glimpse of this gorgeous outdoor newborn session at Sherwood Island Park in Westport Connecticut. I’m finally behind the camera again! I literally cried at the first session I was so happy.

This sweet family had their baby right at the beginning of the Coronavirus lockdown so they have been patiently waiting for their session for almost 3 months! I was so happy to finally meet Mason (from a distance).

This baby was an answer to many prayers and I know how important it was to them to capture this time. I’m so incredibly happy for them and loved documenting all their joy over this sweet baby boy!

We were able to do a virtual styling session and Mama did a contactless wardrobe pick-up the day before the session. I also found a new location that is so beautiful and allows for us to get beach and park settings in one session! Yay!

I’m so thrilled with how they turned out.

A Little Update for 2020 Bookings | Connecticut Photographer

I hope everyone had a safe and Happy Mother’s Day! I know it was a really special day around here! My kids were SO excited about spoiling Mom for the day :)

I am hoping to resume outdoor sessions very soon! I cannot wait to get back to working with your families!

I wanted to let you know that I am closing my 2020 calendar for family sessions VERY soon. I only have a few spots still remaining, which is mind-blowing but I am SO grateful to have so many amazing clients who come back year and after year!

As for Newborn/baby sessions, I still have a couple of openings after July. If you are expecting and thinking about a session, it would be a great time to go ahead and reserve your session before those last few spots are filled :)

Helping Make Your Home Beautiful - Connecticut Photographer

While I may not be out photographing clients right now, I’ve been working NON-STOP on so many new wonderful perks for my clients. One of the BIGGEST addition to the KWP experience is custom wall gallery design.

One of our most elements in our own home is the framed prints of our family that we have displayed. They bring us SO much joy throughout each day. I have also been able to help a few of my clients in displaying their beautiful portraits in their home, and I absolutely fell in love with being able to serve clients on a deeper level. So much so, that I am now including this for all my clients who wish to build a beautiful gallery wall in their home but have no idea where to start. Whether it be a large wall to fill with memories of your family over time or a small wall with a couple of favorite images, I will help you design treasured heirlooms for your family.

I have invested in an incredible program that will allow me to show you exactly what your portraits will look like in your space. We can determine what size you need to look proportionate on your wall and which images look best displayed together. I have a gorgeous collection of frame corners to choose which looks best with your style and decor. After we decide on your favorites, I will get everything ordered, custom framed with handmade heirloom materials, and even come an INSTALL it in your home for you saving you HOURS of time.

I’m so excited to be able to save my clients so much time and make sure they get to enjoy their portraits every day!

Preparing to Re-Open after COVID-19 | Connecticut Newborn Photography

Hello Everyone!

I hope you have all been able to stay healthy during this horrible crisis. I know it has been a long and difficult road everyone.

As we get closer to our Stay at Home order expiring, I have been brainstorming all the ways that I can make it safe to re-open my business. As always, the health and safety of my clients is of UTMOST importance. I have been conferencing with many other top photographers around the country on what steps we can take to be sure our studios and processes are as safe as possible.

I have added a section to my website highlighting some of the precautions I will be taking in order to operate during this time (whenever I am legally allowed to do so). I’ve also updated my sick policy. As always, there are no fees for rescheduling your session due to illness or potential illness.

It remains uncertain if my hair and makeup artists will be able to return to work on May 20, so if you have planned to have hair and makeup for your session, I will reach out to you to discuss options. If you have a session scheduled and would like to wait until later this summer, that is 100% encouraged. Just let me know and we will find a new date when we are a little farther out from the height of this pandemic.

I am working on a wardrobe catalog to help make that process virtual if I am unable to open the studio but can photograph outdoors.

I’m obviously very anxious to get back to documenting your families and will be doing everything I can to protect your family and mine!

Favorite Darien, Connecticut Restaurants for a Post Photography Session Meal

My clients often ask me for restaurant recommendations in Darien for after their session, so I thought I would just write a blog post about some of our favorite ones!

My studio is located a block from the “main drag” in Darien. We don’t have a town square, but most of the restaurants and shops are located along Post Road. We are blessed with a wonderful community of local small businesses and we love to support them!

If you are coming for a Newborn session, we will be finished around lunch time. We have so many great places to grab lunch in town! Also if you have older siblings to keep busy while you are getting your makeup done, Dad can easily take a short walk to get them a treat or some breakfast!

Browne and Co. has a lovely shop in the front and a restaurant in the back for sandwiches, soups, salads and pastries! They even have a small patio outside for enjoying lunch on a nice day!

Sono Baking Company is another favorite with sandwiches, soups, salads and pastries.

The Sugar Bowl is a Darien staple. It’s a greasy spoon diner with tons of options and is very kid friendly.

Neat Coffee is a really cool coffee shop that is on the Grove Street Plaza. I love to go grab coffee there especially when it is nice outside because of the lovely patio at the plaza.

If you are looking for dinner options or a more elevated lunch experience, here are some suggestions!

Ten Twenty Post is an upscale bistro. They have lots of seafood options, a great burger, steak and other options. They also have lots of options on the kids menu. They have great food and great service!

Bodega Taco Bar is one of our personal favorite eats in town because we LOVE tacos and margaritas! Their food is SO good. It can be a little loud at night, which is good for some and not so much others. My favorite dish is the enchiladas pollo!

The Goose is another absolute favorite of ours. It is an upscale American restaurant with amazing burgers, pasta, pizza, salads, and steak. My favorite dish is the Chicken Milanese salad and the Capellini Primavera. My kids love the bread and butter!

These are just a few of the wonderful Darien restaurants to choose from for a post photo session meal. I will highlight more restaurants next week and some shops to check out too!

6 Month In Home Motherhood Session | Greenwich Connecticut

This sweet 6 milestone session took place in my client’s Greenwich Connecticut home. I was so excited when this Momma reached out to me. She told me that had decided not to do newborn photos and now regretted not having captured that tiny newborn phase. Since we obviously can’t turn back time, she wanted to go ahead and book some milestone sessions to document the rest of her first year. I’m so honored to get to capture her baby growing this year!

She wanted to get a session done ASAP so we started with an in home session! My hair and makeup team headed to my client’s home to get her ready for her photos and I brought wardrobe options from the client closet with me for her to choose from. I love this peachy pink dress she chose to to wear.

Once she was ready to go we got baby dressed in this beautiful white heirloom bubble and started capturing the sweetness! I know I say this all the time, but I LOVE this age. It is my absolute favorite stage of babyhood.

For in home sessions, we almost always use the master bedroom and the nursery (as long as the light is good). We will also use a family room and sometimes even the kitchen! I love the intimate feeling of in home sessions and being able to capture you in the place you brought your baby home to. Truly special!

Tucker's 8 Month Sitter Session | Connecticut Baby Photographer

Today I’m sharing my very last baby session before the virus hit and caused everything to shut down here in Connecticut. Mentally, the last 3 weeks have been pretty rough. I miss my clients and I miss snuggling their sweet babies. It breaks my heart that I’m not able to capture your newborns right now, but I promise that very soon we will capture the sweetest photos of your babies that your will treasure.

Meet Tucker. He is a doll baby. I’ve been photographing him since he was a young infant and have loved getting to know his Momma and watching him grow! I know they are going to be SO glad they documented his first year and have these beautiful images to look back on to remember all these fun stages.

We picked out several things from the client wardrobe for Tucker to wear for his milestone session. We did some cozy overalls (I love overalls on babies), a traditional light blue bubble, and a couple of diaper covers. I love to get some portraits showing all their sweet rolls!

Tucker was such a doll. These sitting up milestone sessions are always a favorite. Babies are just so happy and adorable at this stage.

Baby Jack's Fairfield County Newborn Session

Today I’m introducing one of my favorite newborn babies in Fairfield County. I’m sure you are wondering why in the world I would have a favorite. Well, that’s simple. He looks SO much like my son did when he was born! :) He was almost the same size (Liam was 9.6 lbs so most of the babies are see are smaller than him!) and his face looks so similar. Holding him just brought back so many memories and melted my heart.

Mom chose this blue dress from the Client Closet and I love this color on her. Blue is definitely a favorite color among clients.

Jack was already asleep in this white onesie when he arrived so when I got him out of the car seat I laid him on my beanbag and he looked SO precious that I just started shooting and I absolutely love the look! It’s so natural and real, which is what fuels my heart!

Mom and Dad were so in love with their new baby and I love that you can feel that in these images.

Celebrating Motherhood- Angelina + Max | Fairfield County Photographer

Registration for the 3rd annual Celebrating Motherhood Event is coming up on THURSDAY! I am SO excited to see who all will be joining in the event this year. I talked last week about how special it is to me and why.

Last week I had the opportunity to take some Motherhood portraits for my makeup artist, Angelina, and her son Max! She will be busy doing all my Mom’s hair and makeup on the day of the sessions, so I wanted to get her in ahead of time to document her motherhood story!

Max is the cutest little 15 month old and he LOVES his Momma big! He was so smiley and full of joy. This is the first time I’ve seen Angelina with Max and it was heartwarming to see how she lit up around him. There strong bond was so apparent and it was an honor to document all that love between them!

Angelina chose wardrobe from the Client Wardrobe when she arrived for her and for Max. She would look amazing wearing a paper sack, but I love all the choices she made! We did both a casual look (that she brought) and a dress so that you could get an idea of both styles! Of course she did her own makeup since she is an accomplished makeup artist!

Motherhood Mini Session Event- Connecticut Newborn and Family Photographer

I’m SO excited about our upcoming Celebrating Motherhood event! The registration will begin on March 12 at 8 pm. There are VERY limited spots available and I full expect these to sell out within minutes, so be sure to set your alarms to register!

Of all the sessions I do, these Motherhood sessions are the ones I’m most passionate about. For me, being a Mom is the GREATEST blessing in the world. Becoming a Mom gave me a purpose in life beyond my wildest dreams. My kiddos (now 7 and 4) are growing up so so fast. Everyone tries to tell you “don’t blink or they will be grown” and now I know why. The years just FLY by. I have a lot of regret over not being in the photos more when they were little. I never felt like I looked good enough, had on the right clothes or was just lazy about it. I wish so much that I had photos of my snuggling and loving on my babies throughout the last 7 years and I wish I had done a better job of documenting my Motherhood Journey. And that is exactly why I hold these Motherhood Sessions every year.

For my own Motherhood session this year, I included a book that is really special to me and my children - Love You Forever- as I sing the song from the book to them almost every night as part of our bedtime routine. My kids know I can’t get through the book without crying.

Graham's Connecticut Cake Smash and First Birthday Session - Greenwich Photographer

I had so much fun with this family at my Darien studio for their first birthday session! They opted to be in the photos with their little one and they turned out so precious.

We selected outfits from the Client Wardrobe for Graham and for Mom. I’m obsessed with this gray knit bubble he wore! Mom looked stunning this is Fillyboo dress too!

We started with portraits of baby Graham. He was a little uncertain about this whole camera thing at first, but he soon warmed up! He loved rolling around on the bed and playing with his parents!

We used my vintage white high chair to get some classic images of Graham as he tried out his birthday cake. Graham was definitely loving his cake from Palmers Bakery in Darien (www.palmersdarien.com). I always recommend them for my clients because they do such a nice job on the cakes!

I always recommend that my clients get a cake with mostly white icing or even a “naked” style cake. I’m not a fan of messy colored icing and the dyes that go in those. As always, I think simple is best! I want all the focus to be on your baby!

Studio Maternity Session - Fairfield County Connecticut Maternity Photographer

I’m so excited to introduce this GORGEOUS Mama-to-be to the blog in her Studio Maternity Session at my Darien, Connecticut photography studio. This couple is absolutely glowing with love and excitement over their first baby! They were so cute together and I could tell their personalities really balance each other out perfectly.

Jamie came to the studio for her styling session a couple of weeks prior to the session. We had hoped the weather would cooperate for us to get some portraits on the beach, but it was a cold and windy day so we opted to stay in the studio. The best thing about studio Maternity sessions is the ease of changing clothes, so Jamie was able to wear her favorite 3 dresses from the client closet! I absolutely LOVE how different each dress is and of course they all look stunning on her.

Westport Connecticut In Home Newborn Session | First Glimpse

This Westport Connecticut in home newborn session was a dream. This sweet couple recently moved into their Westport home and created the most beautiful nursery for their first baby. They love white as much as I do so their home matched my style so perfectly! They also have the cutest Doxie ever and I just love having dogs and newborns together!

I’m excited to share the full gallery with my clients, but wanted a share a quick sneak peeks that we took in this precious nursery :)

Olivia is One - Field First Birthday Session in New Canaan Connecticut | Fairfield County Baby Photographer

We had so much fun celebrating Olivia’s first birthday at Waveny Park in New Canaan. This session included Mom and Dad as well to get some adorable images of the whole family celebrating this major milestone!

Mom and Olivia came to the studio in Darien, Connecticut prior to their session for the planning and styling consultation. During the consultation we discussed what location would best suit their family and the style they wanted for this session. We then selected outfits from the client closet that would work well with the field location that they chose. I love these pre-session consultations because it gives us the opportunity to get to know each other better and gives us both a huge sense of comfort going into the session itself!

I brought this adorable high chair to the field for a few “first birthday” style images and I just love how cute it was outside. Mom brought a GIANT balloon that we were going to use as well, but unfortunately it popped before we got to use it, but Olivia thought the balloon was really fun!

I love this this off white Henley Dad borrowed from the Client Wardrobe. It is my favorite shirt for men because it is a nice thick material and not stark white (which sometimes doesn’t photograph well outside). Olivia wore 2 of the most precious dresses from the Client Wardrobe. That dusty pink tulle dress has been a fan favorite for 1st birthdays this year.

Coming Soon....The Celebrating Motherhood Event 2020 - Fairfield County Connecticut Photographer

I’m so excited to announce the date of the 3rd Annual 2020 Celebrating Motherhood Event happening at my Darien, Connecticut studio! This Client Exclusive event will be held on May 3, 2020!

The Celebrating Motherhood event is all about pampering Moms and capturing the connection between Moms and their babies (of all ages). This is a Client Exclusive event which means it is limited to 2019 clients who had a full session or 2020 clients with a full session already booked!

Sessions will be $299 and include:

• 10 -15 minute Motherhood session with your kids

• light hair and makeup

• access to the client wardrobe

• mimosa bar

• Your choice of 3 high resolution digital images to download (from a gallery of 10 images)

The sessions will take place at my studio in Darien, Connecticut. The client wardrobe will be available so as usual, you don’t have to worry about clothing! I will also have my makeup artist, Angelina, there for light hair and makeup (just come in your regular makeup and she will be enhancing your look to get your camera ready).

The session will last 10 minutes and focus on photos of you and your babies snuggling together, reading a favorite book, or playing with a special stuffie or toy.

REGISTRATION WILL BE MARCH 12 at 8 pm.

Baby Penelope | Fairfield County Connecticut Newborn Photographer

I have another precious newborn baby girl to share with you today! Tis family came to my studio in Fairfield County Connecticut for their session and I was thrilled to work with them on documenting their first baby!

Her name is Penelope- isn’t that the cutest name? I just love it so much. Our second baby was a girl and we had the hardest time picking out a name for her. We did not officially decide on a name until the week of her birth (which is very much unlike me and my type-A personality). I don’t know why we had such a hard time with girl names, but we did. And after all the fuss over it, we ended up going with the name we had picked out if our first was a girl (which we had totally forgotten about until we found the old baby name list a year after she was born!). Do you think boy names or girl names are harder to decide on??

Anyway, I digress. Mama got her makeup done by my amazingly talented makeup artist Angelina of Beautymarked Studio. She chose this stunning off the shoulder white dress from the client closet for her session and she looked radiant!

Baby Penelope slept like a dream her entire session making it so easy for us to get lots of beautiful portraits! She has the prettiest face (just like her Mom)! I loved that big white bow on her! It’s definitely one of my favorite accessories for girls! I absolutely love those close up detail shots at the bottom where her hand is holding Mom’s finger and Dad is kissing her little toes!

Fairfield County Family Field Session - Aidan's 3 Months Old

I had the pleasure of working with so many amazing Fairfield County families for outdoor sessions last year. Family season really ramps up in mid/late summer and then everything gets crazy as fall hits and blogging falls to the wayside. I’m working hard to catch up on blogging all the sessions!

I’m starting with this gorgeous family and there summer field family session! You may remember this stunning Mama from her field maternity session. :) . I was so excited to work with them again to document their growing baby.

Aidan has the most hair I’ve ever seen on a baby! It is truly amazing. And he is so handsome to boot (no surprise as both his parents are so good looking!).

I absolutely love shooting at this outdoor location. It is filled with wildflowers that change color throughout the spring/summer. These white flowers are my favorite of course. I’m not sure if this meadow will be around this year as I noticed they are making some changes at the park and I’m going to be so sad to lose this beautiful spot!
