Sitter Milestone Session at Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT

Little David is making another appearance on the blog today! The last time you saw him, he was the sweetest little newborn! And here we are six months later (still so sweet!) doing his sitter milestone session at Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT. We could not have asked for a better fall evening and golden sunset!

I love sitter milestone sessions! We usually do these sessions around 6-8 months and there’s just something about this age that is so exciting. They are so curious, yet still, a little reserved and cling to Mom & Dad. And the best part - we start to see some of their personality!

David was quite the charmer but also a little serious, especially when he noticed my camera! He loved playing airplane with Mom & Dad and hanging with his best dog pal, Todd! I love that Todd joins the family for all of their sessions. He really is the best dog and quite the model if you ask me!

Happy half birthday, David! I cannot wait to see you again, but don’t grow toooo fast!

Photos with Santa in Darien, CT | Best Connecticut Santa Experience

If you missed Monday’s post all about photos with Santa at the Darien Community Center, you’ll want to check it out first. Today I am going to share more details about how you can be part of next year’s photos with Santa in Darien, CT.

I may be a bit biased, but I think that I offer the best Connecticut Santa Experience…not because of me, but because of SANTA himself! Darien natives know him as Joe Warren, but to the kids, he is Santa and has been for over 40 years now. He loves and serves his community well through the local sports shop and also as a volunteer firefighter. This is his 3rd year with KWP, and each year it’s an honor to donate proceeds from the event to the local fire department where Joe volunteers.

The Santa Experience really is more than just having photos taken with Santa. It’s become a holiday tradition for many of my clients. This year each family received goody bags where I share some of the traditions that our family loves (reindeer food to put out on Christmas Eve, special ornaments for the tree, holiday activities, and Christmas cookies). The kids get quality time with Santa and gone are the days of waiting in long lines.

So, how do you get to be part of the KWP Santa Experience?

1. Book a classic session (maternity, family, or newborn) with KWP in 2021 and secure first access to the 2021 Santa Experience. Contact me HERE for more details.

2. Purchase the Elf Pass during the 2020 Santa Experience.

What is the Elf Pass?

Elf Pass holders get first access to Santa sign-ups. Santa sessions sold out within minutes this year and they seem to only go quicker and quicker each year. This year we offered an upgrade to include an Elf Pass + Framed 5x7 print and a personalized handwritten letter from Santa, wrapped and ready to go under the tree.

What if we haven’t scheduled a 2021 session or have an Elf Pass?

Santa Photos in Darien, CT | Fairfield County Santa Photos | Part 1

Due to COVID, I wasn’t sure if Santa photos were going to happen or not. Santa photos in Darien, CT is something my clients and I look forward to every year. It’s become a KWP signature event over the last 3 years. And this year, more than ever, I felt like I needed to make it happen for my clients.

In years past I have hosted Santa sessions in my studio in Darien. But due to Covid, we needed outdoor space, and this year they were held at the Darien Community Center's historic Meadowloads home. The Darien Community Center is a non-profit organization in my community in Farfield County. Their primary income is as an event space, and they have been struggling due to COVID and event cancellations. I was so happy to be able to support another non-profit this year with Santa sessions.

To be totally honest, I had never been more nervous about Santa session sign-ups. I wasn’t sure if offering Santa sessions this year was the right thing to do or not. I wasn’t sure if anyone would book…or be comfortable. Yet….at the same time, I felt like everyone needed the extra cheer this year.

To start, I only offered 20 Santa sessions. Within two minutes…yes just TWO MINUTES, they sold out. I opened a second day with 20 more time slots…and when those were gone I scrambled and added a third day. Minutes later, 60 families had signed up for Santa photos at the Darien Community Center.

It’s not about the number of sessions. It’s not even about the photos with Santa. It’s about the experience. It’s about the tradition for your children and the joy it brings your family. There was no standing in lines or seeing Santa over facetime - just pure joy, something “normal” for your children in the midst of a year that has been anything but normal.

But that didn’t come without a lot of precautions from our amazing Santa. He came early to get a couple of photos without a mask so that I could photoshop 1-2 photos for families (example below!). We also limited the sessions to the same weekend so that any outside exposure Santa may would encounter would be minimized.

Although Santa may have looked a little different with his mask and the location was different this year, the experience was the same. Each of the kids got to spend quality time with Santa. Sessions last 10-15 minutes. We start with a portrait of just the kids before Santa arrives so we almost always have at least one smiling photo for the ones who are a tad afraid. Then Santa comes in and they have time to chat, read a book, share their wish lit, and put an ornament on the tree. It really was 3 days filled with magic and a wonderful start to the holiday season!

First Birthday Cake Smash at Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT

We all blinked and somehow Olivia is already celebrating her first birthday. It’s been so fun watching her grow from the time she was in her momma’s tummy (check out their beautiful Weed Beach maternity session) to her in-home newborn session, and now her first birthday! I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a first birthday cake smash at Waveny Park in New Canaan.

One of my favorite things to do after a first birthday session is to pull a newborn photo and put them side by side with the first year photo. It’s always a lot of fun to see how they have grown and changed over the year (and also a little bittersweet because time… it really does go SO fast).

Olivia loved to stick her tongue out at me, play airplane with Mom + Dad, and humored us all with the cake eating part of her first birthday session. I never know how babies will respond to the cake smash - some love it, some hate it, and some are just confused. Either way, it’s all pretty hilarious and so much fun to photograph.

Pregnancy Announcement | Connecticut Baby Photographer

I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am for these two…orrrr should I say, THREE?! It’s the greatest honor to be chosen by families to be their Connecticut Baby Photographer. But to brought into their lives in the early stages to photograph their pregnancy announcement is truly so special. Brittany and Kyle have been hoping for and dreaming about this precious baby and I could not be happier for them!

I love that parents are starting to think about photographing their baby’s legacy earlier and earlier. Those that do and become First-Year Collective members, receive a complimentary pregnancy announcement session. This is a quick 10-minute session to capture this special moment and give you some sweet images to share with friends and family. I do require that these sessions are close. My studio, Weed Beach, Waveny Park, or your home (depending on location) are all great options.

For Brittany and Kyle’s pregnancy announcement session, we went to Weed Beach right here in Darien. We could not have asked for a better evening on the beach! They brought along their most recent ultrasound photo and the sweetest little baby shoes. I’ve had clients also bring along an heirloom baby item, a sweet onesie, or something that is special to them regarding their baby.

Newborn Photographer in Connecticut During Covid-19

Trust me when I say, I am doing everything I can as a Newborn Photographer in Connecticut to make sure we are able to continue capturing once in a lifetime moments, while also keeping clients safe. It’s true, babies do not keep and they change so quickly. BUT your safety will always be my number one priority (and that’s always been the case long before the pandemic).

As I am writing this blog post, we are able to still photograph newborn sessions in Fairfield County and other surrounding areas in Connecticut. I can still have you here in my newborn studio in Darien, and I can still come to your homes for lifestyle newborn sessions. Please understand that this could change at any time, and I will follow the state and local guidelines. The same goes for in-home newborn sessions in New York.

Colder Temperatures - Indoor Only During Covid

With the temps getting colder, outdoor newborn sessions aren't an option anymore. We are taking lots of precautions: daily temperature checks, wearing a mask at all times, sanitizing hands, cleaning the studio thoroughly and all clothing, wraps, and blankets are washed after each session. We are also running air purifiers in the studio.

Depending on where we stand with Covid next spring, we will revisit offering outdoor newborn sessions again. If you’re a parent inquiring about a due date in that time frame, HERE is a beautiful outdoor newborn session at Sherwood Island to help you envision the possibilities.

Reschedule Policy During Covid

If anyone in your family is exhibiting symptoms, of any kind, OR if they have been in direct contact with someone confirmed to have Covid, you must reschedule. There will be zero tolerance for so much as a sniffle. I know it’s hard and we all still get colds during the winter, but I must err on the side of caution during this time to keep all my clients safe. If you someone in your family has tested positive for the virus, we will need to wait at least 14 days to reschedule.

I will require a temperature check at the door for all studio newborn sessions. For in-home newborn sessions, I ask that you check everyone’s temperatures prior to my arrival (an I will check mine prior to heading to your home). I ask that anyone in your family over the age of 2 please wear a mask when we are not taking portraits.

It’s also important to me that you know that I am taking every precaution I can possibly take. You have my word that should anyone in my family exhibit symptoms OR comes in direct contact with someone confirmed to have Covid, I will notify you immediately. Your session will be rescheduled as soon as it is deemed safe.

Hair + Makeup During Covid

My hair and makeup artists with BeautyMarked Studio received COVID certifications. The artists wear masks at all times, sanitizes all makeup/hair tools before each session. and uses a freshly cleaned and sanitized set of makeup brushes on each client.

We ask that the person having their hair and makeup done to be the only person the artist. We ask family members to please respect social distance guidelines as much as possible to keep everyone safe.

What Will Your Newborn Session Look Like During Covid?

I cannot imagine what it’s like to have a newborn during this time. I know so many of you have planned for and envisioned what your newborn photos will look like.

But I want you to stop worrying about that!

Since the start of Covid, I have been working hard to create an experience that is even better than before. My goal is for you to not even notice a difference - other than the safety measures in place. Your gallery will be full of variety, love, and all the details you never want to forget.

Parents can wear their masks when we are not taking photos. We will work with parents’ comfort levels and adjust the session to what they feel comfortable with (in terms of social distancing and me touching the baby).

It is possible for me to not touch your baby at all. If you choose no contact, I will direct you from a distance. I can walk you through swaddling your baby or we can put them in a little outfit (usually a knit romper) from the client closet.

Darien Baby Photographer | Studio Newborn Session

I know that I say every session is a favorite, buttttttt that’s the life of a Darien Baby Photographer. I just cannot get enough of all of the newborns I’ve had the joy of photographing this year!

I am going on my third year as a newborn photographer in Darien, so I am starting to see more and more families grow. Photographing one child is always an honor, but it’s the best feeling when they come back for their second or third baby with me. It was so fun to see (and photograph) big brother, Carter, in his new role!

Michael was so content. He loved to be swaddled, curled up perfectly for his solo-photos and slept through most of the family photos. And you guys, this sweet boy is SO cute. He may win the award for the most hair this year and the most defined features. It’s those little details about your brand new baby you never want to forget.

Angelina met us at the studio to do Momma’s hair and makeup while I got started with Dad and the boys! Momma wore one of our classic blue Show Me Your Mumu dresses from the client closet. I love this dress because it truly does look good on everyone, and the fit is perfect for postpartum. If you’re a nursing Momma, it’s also great for that should you need to feed baby during your newborn session. Carter is also wearing an outfit from the client closet, making it super easy for Mom and Dad!

Preparing Your Toddler

Even though I am a photographer, I still get those same pre-session jitters as you do. I still worry about how my children will cooperate and if we will get any good photos. I’ll let you in on a little secret….we always do and I promise you will too!

Here are a few tips I have learned along the way as both a Mom and a Newborn and Family Photographer.

Make sure your kids are rested. Try to make sure your kids are in bed at a normal time. The night before your session is not the night to let them stay up late. If they are at the age where naps are still needed, let me know and we will work your session around it as best we can. Mid-morning sessions tend to work better for young toddlers.

Feed your kids before the session + bring snacks. Have a snack on the way or right before you leave and feel free to bring things with you in case the kids need a little snack break. Small bite-size and clean snacks are great - we don’t want anything messy.

Let your kids play! If your kids are having fun and playing, we are getting great photos. My goal is to get one good photo of everyone looking at the camera and the rest of the time, I want to beautifully capture the authenticity, the connection, and the emotion of your family. I have lots of tricks, games and bribes to try to keep the kids engaged and having fun.

The most difficult ages are from 18 months to age 2.5. Young toddlers can be a tough crowd and they aren't always going to be smiling during photos, despite everyone's best efforts! As long as they are content (and not having a meltdown) it is a win!

Please do not punish or threaten your kids during the session as it tends to have a worse effect on the images. I find it’s best to try to turn off the parenting hate (I know that’s easier said than done) and let me direct your kids.

The most important tip… JUST KEEP SMILING!!!

Rye, NY In Home Newborn Session | Rye Newborn Photographer

I was so excited when I got the inquiry from this sweet family for an in-home newborn session in Rye, NY. Rye is the cutest little coastal town outside of NYC with the most beautiful homes. Baby Isla makes their fourth girl and oh my goodness, she and her sisters are so sweet!

Due to Covid, Jaclyn wasn’t sure if she was going to be able to get newborn photos taken for their newest little girl. I was so glad she reached out and I was able to assure her we could do an in-home newborn session safely. I have worked very hard, including talking with doctors, about the best practices to protect you and your families. You can read more about that HERE. 

Angelina with BeautyMarked Studio joined me to pamper Jaclyn in their home in Rye. While she was getting pampered, I started Isla’s newborn session. I’ll typically do this to help save time but it’s also the perfect time to get photos of Daddy + baby and then the proud big sisters with baby. It also gives Mama a few minutes to herself to relax!

Wardrobe 

One of the biggest hurdles to getting newborn or family photos taken is the stress over what everyone will wear. That’s why I have made it my mission to include wardrobe for all KWP families. This can be particularly helpful when you have multiple children.

Mama + the 3 big sisters are all wearing dresses from the KWP client closet. I, of course, love the clean, modern all-white look that we went with in this modern style home. This can work (and look really good!) when we mix different patterns and styles. I just adore the dresses Mama chose for her girls!

I cannot get over how sweet these girls were, and I am so excited to see how their bonds grow over time. Enjoy a peek into Isla’s in-home newborn session!

In-Home Newborn Session in Darien, CT | Darien Lifestyle Newborn Photographer

Not everyone knows this, but I am not originally from Connecticut. I’m a recent New England transplant from Arkansas to Darien, CT. This super sweet Momma is originally from Texas and then she and her husband recently moved to Darien from NYC. It’s always so much fun to connect with other Southerners, so I was excited when she reached out about doing an in-home session in their new home here in Darien. 

They live in a Tudor style home, full of vintage details and a beautiful archway we used for some photos! I cannot wait to see the gallery we have planned for their stairwell grow over the years! 

I brought Mom a selection of dresses from the client closet and loved the blue color she chose. It matched well with the colors in their home. There were so many beautiful spots in their home, we used lots of rooms for their session! I always look for the rooms with the best light and the prettiest details.

Barrett is the sweetest little guy and you can just feel how much he is loved. He was alert for part of the session, which made for some of the sweetest photos of him looking at Momma and Daddy! It didn’t take long before he snuggled up on Mom and Dad and fell asleep.

Before I knew it, he was awake again and showed us his personality. Those, along with the little details of his hands and feet, are some of my favorite images from his in-home newborn session.

New Canaan Connecticut In Home Newborn Session

2020 has been a year - for all of us. As a Connecticut Newborn Photographer, I have worked hard to navigate the balance between following our state guidelines and still providing clients with timeless portraits. For some babies born during the pandemic, like baby Cameron, that has meant a slight delay. So you can imagine my excitement when it came time for this New Canaan Connecticut in-home newborn session.

Cameron was almost 3 months old when we did his newborn session. Typically we photograph newborn sessions within the first month, but I’ve found I really love photographing this age! It’s not a milestone most newborn or family photographers document - it’s more of an in-between stage where they aren’t really doing much, but still really exciting! Plus…Mom and Dad are a little more rested. It’s all about the silver linings, right?

The newborn session wasn’t the only exciting milestone though! Mom + Dad recently bought this house in New Canaan and it’s absolutely stunning! It’s light and bright with tons of windows and everything I could dream of, both personally and for a newborn session!

The nursery is so adorable. I loved the nautical theme and personal details. The vintage photos were taken by Cameron’s grandparents! Cameron and his best little dog pal seemed to love it too!

2020 may have brought some lows and a lot of uncertainty, but it has also brought a lot of really sweet highs! First baby + first house is something to celebrate and I am honored they chose me. I cannot wait to see the walls and entryway of their New Canaan home filled with beautifully framed prints of memories we capture together over the years!

Mom and Dad chose a beautiful heirloom album in a natural linen color with gold embossing on the front. They also chose 3 beautiful framed prints. Mom wanted the corner of her bedroom filled so we designed and installed 2 of the frames there. She also wants to grow a gallery wall for her entryway so we started with one family portrait and will continue to add to it over time.

It was quite the honor to be able to hand-deliver and install their first family portrait together in their first home as a family in New Canaan!

Westport Connecticut Beach Session | 6 Month Milestone Session

I am so excited to share this Westport Connecticut beach session with you! Sweet Harper is a First-Year Collective member and I’ve been looking forward to her 6-month milestone session since their in-home newborn session in Westport.

For Harper’s 6-month milestone session, we headed to the beach in Westport. It was a beautiful day and the sunset did not disappoint! Baby + Beach - what more could I ask for?! Harper is the sweet little girl and an absolute joy to photograph!

Mama wore one of my favorite dresses from the client wardrobe. It flows beautifully on the beach and perfect for playing with your little one(s). I even wore it for our beach photos this past summer!

If you’re questioning a beach session for one of your milestone sessions, don’t! I’ve been doing more 6 month sessions outside this year instead of in my Darien Studio due to Covid. I like to bring a blanket and the Moses basket for some variety. It also helps if baby isn’t quite sitting, or to contain them a little!

I am certainly not one to wish time away. As a Mama I know how fast (too fast!) the time goes this first year. Buttt…I can’t wait to see these three again!

Sherwood Island First Birthday Session | Westport, CT Family Photographer

I cannot believe it’s already been a year with Caleb. It feels like I just did their Weed Beach maternity session and studio newborn session. Now we are back in Westport at Sherwood Island doing Caleb’s first birthday session. Just wait until you see how cute he is in his hat!

I don’t think I ever understood how quickly the time went until I had children. It’s true what they say: “The days are long, but the years are short.” I’m just so thankful that this sweet family and so many others have trusted me as their family photographer, and I can freeze some of these memories through their portraits.

Before heading over to Sherwood Island, Michelle had another chance to get pampered by our hair and makeup artists with BeautyMarked Studio. She chose a beautiful, blue floral dress from the client wardrobe. Since getting it this past summer, it’s been a popular choice! I love how it coordinates with the dresses she chose for her maternity and newborn session.

Family Sessions at Sherwood Island

Sherwood Island in Westport, CT is one of my favorite places to do family sessions. We can get a lot of variety there depending on your scenery preferences. To start, we met up at the field for a few photos - the greens there in the summer photograph beautifully! After that, we headed down to the water for Caleb to explore. he wasn’t so sure about the water, but loved the rocks and hanging out with Mom and Dad! Then we wrapped up with the best cake smash. Caleb loved it and we couldn’t get enough watching him!

Weed Beach Maternity Session | Darien, CT Maternity Photographer

I am so excited to share this Weed Beach maternity session with you! Allison and Scott are First-Year Collective Members and I cannot wait to document this special year for them and baby Coco!

Every time I photograph a maternity session, I can’t help but reflect back on when my husband and I were expecting. I did not want professional portraits of myself. But now, I wish I could go back. I’d take the photos - all of them.

Years later I realize what a truly special time it was in my life as a woman and a mother. Growing a life inside you is the most beautiful thing in the world. It should be celebrated. Even if you don’t see it now, I PROMISE you will one day.

I have made it my mission as a Darien, CT Photographer to not only take beautiful portraits of your family but to also provide the best KWP experience for my clients. I’ve found that if people feel good and have the stressful parts (what to wear!) taken care of, they are a lot more likely to commit to having professional portraits.

Part of that KWP experience includes wardrobe styling. I have over 75 dresses in various colors, textures and sizes to choose from. Allison chose the Fillyboo maternity and it’s definitely a favorite. The soft pink and lace detailing are perfect for a beach maternity session. It also works great for newborn and family sessions!

Greenwich Lifestyle Newborn Photographer | Greenwich, CT Photographer

There are a lot of perks to being a Greenwich Lifestyle Newborn Photographer and one of those is getting to see the most beautiful, serene nurseries! This sweet girl’s nursery was so calming, I could have spent the whole day in there. And I can’t lie…the neutral design with little pops of green and dreamy light just sent my newborn photographers heart soaring. We are going to add two framed prints to the nursery as well and I cannot wait to see it all come together!

Just when I thought I was showing up to photograph their baby girl I was greeted by the most adorable little girl, Chloe. She stole the show, wanted to be in all the photos and couldn’t get enough of her baby sister!

Waveny Park Maternity Session | New Canaan Photographer

Everyone loves a good love story, right?! Brianna and Dan met on a plane to Nashville and soon they will welcome their sweet baby boy, Nash! I am a bit biased after living in Nashville, but I love the name and the significance behind it. As they anticipate Nash’s arrival, we met up for their Waveny Park maternity session. Between the fall foliage starting to make an appearance and the most beautiful sunset, it was pure magic!

Even with taking extra Covid-19 precautions, I am still offering styling appointments for clients. The styling appointments are handled virtually via zoom and then wardrobe is available for pickup the day before. Brianna chose a beautiful BHLDN dress from the client wardrobe and it was perfect for her…and perfect for twirling in the field (scroll to the end to see!). She also had a chance to get pampered by our amazing hair and makeup artist before heading over to Waveny Park.

I am so excited to have these two + Nash as First-Year collective members! We have designed a large gallery wall (including one of their wedding photos) for their home in Weschester, NY that will grow with them over the next year!

Darien Newborn Studio Session | Darien Newborn Photographer

This sweet baby boy’s parents were glowing with pride over their first baby! They are new to the area and I was so excited to have them in for their Darien Newborn Studio Session. Lucky for me, I’ll get a chance to see these three a few times over the next year as a First-Year Collective member (newborn, 6 months + 1 year). 

My amazing hair and makeup artist came to the studio to pamper Mama and let her relax while I captured Rhett’s very first portraits. Rhett was SO sweet and was sure to show off his eyes and cute little lips. He also loved to snuggle Mom and Dad!

After their studio newborn session, we designed a wall gallery (read more about that process HERE!) for his nursery. A few weeks later I went to their home to install the gorgeous frames. We also designed their custom birth announcements and began their first-year album.  I cannot wait to watch baby Rhett grow this year!

In-Home Newborn Session in Greenwich, CT | Greenwich Newborn Photographer

I am convinced there is nothing sweeter than a brand new baby and older siblings! This in-home newborn session in Greenwich, CT was a joy to photograph. Big brother and big sister were completely smitten with their baby brother and you’ll quickly see why!

As much as I love my Darien studio, I love getting to come to your homes for lifestyle newborn sessions! You’d never know this was this sweet family’s first time having professional photos taken. They were all complete naturals! In-home photoshoots can be helpful when you have older children or if anyone is camera shy. Sometimes the comfort of your own home helps everyone relax. And not to worry Moms - you still get the same experience and pampering from our hair and makeup artists!

I loved getting to see Mom and Dad’s reactions during their reveal session. After selecting their favorite images, we designed two different wall galleries for their home - one in the master and one in the nursery. I cannot wait to get those installed so the entire family can enjoy them for years to come!

Family Maternity Session at Weed Beach in Darien, CT

This family maternity session at Weed Beach in Darien, CT was truly one of the sweetest sessions I've photographed. It was a rainy, overcast day but it wasn’t going to stop these three from celebrating. They were so excited to welcome baby girl #2 and I am just so excited that I get to document their family over the next year!

Big sister is just shy of two and during this session, I was reminded how much I LOVE photographing this age. They are eager to explore and it makes for some of my favorite candid photos of families on the beach. This sweet girl also just loved being by Mom and Dad whether she was holding their hands or giving them the best hugs!

Overcast Weather at the Beach

This past year was a doozy - weather included! It can be so fickle here in Darien. One second the sun is shining, the next the sky opens up and pours on us. Often times the rain will pass quickly, but sometimes it doesn’t and we have overcast skies.

I promise, so long as it’s not totally dark out - it’s okay! In fact, I sometimes prefer overcast by the beach, especially when you have toddlers. The light is more even, making it a little easier to chase them around from different directions.

Big sister is wearing a dress from the client wardrobe and Mom chose a dress she already owned. Angelina from BeautyMarked Studio was able to go to their house to do Mama’s hair and makeup. Westport Beach Session - Sherwood Island | 6 Month Milestone and Family Session

6 months really does go by in the blink of an eye. From his in-home newborn session to today’s Westport beach session at Sherwood Island, Chase is growing too fast!

I had so many 6-month milestone sessions over the summer and I loved it…minus the heat! It was HOT! But I am so thankful these four powered through because the photos are ALWAYS worth it. Thankfully Sherwood Island has a park with some shade, so we were able to go there to cool off and get a few more photos.

Milestone sessions really are so much fun. Not only do I get to take beautiful photos, but I get to catch up with my clients. Getting to know you and your story, and then being able to help tell that through timeless portraits is why I do what I do. I really do have the best job as a Connecticut Newborn and Family Photographer!

Mama had a light dusty blue dress that was perfect for a hot day on the beach. I loved the little ruffle detail. For the kids, we pulled from the client wardrobe. Big sis wore a classic white eyelet dress and Chase wore a striped knit romper. Both are perfect for summer beach sessions!

Connecticut Baby Photographer | Waveny Park Outdoor Newborn Session

I have been counting down the days to this newborn session since we photographed Kristen and Dustin’s pregnancy announcement at Weed Beach. Their excitement as they were preparing to share the news of their first baby was so sweet to witness and photograph. I am just so honored that out of all of the Connecticut Baby Photographers, they chose me! Sometimes I still have to pinch myself that THIS is my job!

Seriously, wait until you see how sweet little David is. I am not sure who is more smitten with him - Mom and Dad or his big brother, Todd? I can only imagine how exciting it is going to be for David to grow up having the best dog pal!

With COVID number still on the rise this summer in Connecticut, we went ahead and decided on an outdoor newborn session at Waveny Park in New Canaan. One thing I am finding (and loving) about all of my outdoor newborn sessions, is I have a lot more awake babies. And I kinda love it! While they are still so little, they know who Mom and Dad are and it’s sweet to see that connection. Plus, alert newborns tend to give you the best expressions!

I cannot wait to see little David grow over this next year. Until then, enjoy all the adorable moments from his newborn session!
