Baby Girl's First Birthday Photoshoot | Fairfield County, CT

I cannot believe it’s already time to share this baby girl’s first birthday photoshoot with you! It feels like we were just photographing Harper’s newborn session in her nursery, and here she is standing up and turning ONE! If you missed her 6-month milestone session, you can catch up here!

When a KWP baby graduates from the first-year collective, it’s always a little bittersweet! We do 3-4 sessions together over the course of their first year and I have to admit, I tend to get attached to these babies and their parents. And while most of my clients continue with their annual family photos, there is just something extra special about that first year!

To wrap up Harper’s first year, we did a session in the studio. Now that the secret is out, I can share that this is one of my last sessions in my current studio. We are moving to Westport! But more on that later!

Harper may only be one, but she already has style! We started her session with the most precious little white onesie with delicate details. After that, was a little tulle dress…because what little girl doesn’t need tulle to celebrate their birthday?! We finished up with a little knit romper and a couple of bonnets…and you guys, she couldn’t have been more precious!

Is it even a first birthday photoshoot without finishing up with a cake smash?! Next to documenting their sweet little faces, this may be one of my favorite parts. It’s always so unpredictable- some babies will love it, some hate it and some are just totally confused.

If you’re going to do a cake smash, I recommend keeping the cake small and neutral. It will photograph best and also be less overwhelming to them. And remember, it’s totally okay for them to respond however they do. I promise, no matter their reaction it always makes for great photos!

Studio Newborn Baby Photographer in Fairfield County, Connecticut

As a studio newborn baby photographer in Fairfield County Connecticut, I have photographed over 100 newborns. Just writing that out is incredibly humbling. To know that so many of you trust me with your most precious memories is truly an honor.

Many of these newborns belong to first-time parents. And while every newborn session I photograph in my studio is special, I know from experience there is something truly magical about your first baby. I see beyond the exhaustion and dark circles. I see a new look- one filled with so much love and excitement for all that is to come. As a newborn photographer and as a mother, I relish being able to soak all of that in with my clients.

This precious baby boy, Cedric, didn’t want to miss out on his first photoshoot either. So much so he kept his eyes open and awake the entire session. He was super content and just as sweet as his Mom and Dad.

I know that most people (photographers included) think that newborns need to be super sleepy for their newborn session. While that may be true (or rather, helpful) to an extent, it doesn’t mean that we can’t photograph newborns that are awake the entire time. It can be challenging if they are awake and restless, but as long as they are mostly content we can 100% work with that.

Truth be told, I really love it when babies are awake for at least part of their session. I am confident that whether your baby is awake or asleep, I can navigate my way through a session as a studio newborn baby photographer. There’s nothing sweeter than having a baby look up at their mom and dad and being able to document that memory for them to have for forever.

6 Month Sitter Session in Studio in Fairfield County

Mom and Dad, if I haven’t reminded you lately, please do not skip your baby’s 6-month sitter session. This milestone is SO precious and one that you do not want to miss.

Here’s the deal, you already know by now how quickly time flies and how much your baby changes. This 6-8 month time frame is HUGE for your baby. He/she is starting to sit up, show their personality, interact with you more, and most likely moving all over the place! Oh, and if we’re lucky, they have discovered their feet.

Trust me when I say these are the months you will never want to forget!

And I am SO thankful that little Rhett is part of our baby plan so we know his milestones are going to be documented. I may or may not have been counting down the days to this session since his studio newborn session. He is the cutest little boy with the sweetest features and a smile that will just melt your heart.

Rhett was also quite the little model for his sitter session. The first photo of him below is one of my all-time favorite milestone photos. He crossed his tiny little feet, stretched his arms up, and just smiled right at me.

I also recommend that at least Mom joins us for the sitter session. In the event your little one isn’t having it, you can be in the photos to support him/her. And regardless, it’s a great time for some motherhood photos. We all know we’re never in enough with our children and it’s my mission to change that!

Angelina was here to work with Mom, Nicole, and we had the best time. Nicole is always so much fun to be around- always so happy and has a smile that fills the room with so much joy. She wore one of my favorite blue dresses from the client wardrobe, and it paired well with the outfits we chose for Rhett.

What to Wear for Maternity, Newborn and Family Photoshoots | Why I Offer Client Wardrobe

As a Mom of two, I’ve been there. I’ve stood in my closet, starred at all of the clothes in front of me, and came to the conclusion that I had absolutely nothing to wear. I’ve also taken an arm full of clothes into the dressing room only to pick myself apart and leave empty-handed.

My guess is that you’ve been there too. And while I wish it wasn’t true, I’ve heard from so many friends, family, and clients that the stress over what to wear has actually stopped them from scheduling a newborn or family session. That absolutely breaks my heart.

It wasn’t long into my journey as a newborn and family photographer that I realized how true this was. I also knew that if I wanted my clients to truly enjoy having family portraits or ensure they scheduled a newborn session, I needed to find a way to alleviate this burden. The solution was fairly simple and what I didn’t know was how much it was going to change the trajectory of my business. Curious? Keep reading!

The Solution - A Client Wardrobe!

It didn’t happen overnight and I have learned a lot along the way. We currently have over 150 dresses for Mom, 100+ outfits for girls and boys ages 0-10, and even shirts for Dads. Various styles...casual, dressy, boho, classic...we've got it all.

Each piece in the wardrobe has been purchased with intention. I want the dresses to be flattering for moms and work for various body types. I work in textures and patterns that photograph well, and select pieces for the kids + dad that will coordinate easily. We are constantly refreshing the wardrobe so that what we offer is not only in style but new to all of our returning clients.

So why wardrobe? I knew that if I could provide a solution to one of the biggest barriers, that would mean more family’s having tangible memories over the years and photos to one day pass down to their children.

Offering a wardrobe also saves my clients money and likely a lot of time. Instead of spending hours shopping for outfits, we have a 30-minute styling appointment (currently done virtually due to Covid). We take into account the colors in your home, the location of your session, and coordinate your family’s outfits to ensure a cohesive look that will look beautiful hanging in your home.

Building a client wardrobe was really the first step towards offering a full-service client experience. This gave me a glimpse into what that would do for my clients and it made me want to offer more. Two years later, I can truly say that KWP takes care of every little detail from start to finish.

Newborn Baby Photographer in Fairfield County, CT | Studio Session

I remember when I started as a newborn baby photographer in Fairfield County, CT. I was so excited, eager to learn, and wanted to serve my clients well. And that remains true today. But what I didn’t know was how much joy being a newborn photographer was going to continue to bring me years later. If anything, my love for photography grows more and more with each family that I have the opportunity to serve.

When I first met Brianna and Dan at their maternity session, I knew they were incredibly sweet people and had SO much love to give the baby they were growing. Seeing them with their son Nash was a reminder of why I do what I do. Those early days are such a blur and as first-time parents, you teeter between absolute exhaustion and pure bliss.

But each day that passes, it grows harder and harder to remember how tiny they once were. The art that I create comes right from my heart as a Mother. I take the photos I wish I had of my babies so that you can hold onto these memories forever.

First Birthday Session and Cake Smash in Studio in Darien, CT

It’s always a little bittersweet when a KWP baby turns one. Over the last year, I have had the honor of watching little Chase grow from a tiny little newborn baby boy to a boy on the move…and one that loves cake!

Since I met Chase at his in-home newborn session, I knew it was going to be an exciting year documenting him grow. He was so alert and curious and already letting his sweet little personality show.

Chase’s smile is contagious and will melt your heart…right along with the bond he shares with his big sister. The two of them could not be any sweeter together. One of my favorite sibling photos ever was from Chase’s six-month milestone session at Sherwood Island.

What to Do at a First Birthday Session

It can be hard to wrangle a one-year-old on the move! That’s one reason why I love doing first-birthday sessions in the studio. It’s an open space, free of distractions, and gives them a controlled space to move around in.

This usually looks like them playing in the curtains, standing by one of our poofs, crawling around, and playing with wood toys that I provide. I have found that these give them something to do to also photograph well.

If you choose to do a cake smash for your one-year-old, we will do that at the end. Then ensures that we get those must-have photos first and then we let the fun begin! Some babies love cake and others want nothing to do with it. However your child responds, know that it’s totally normal and 100% adorable either way!

Maternity Session at Sherwood Island Park in Westport, CT

This Mama could not have been more stunning for her maternity session at Sherwood Island Park in Westport, CT. I absolutely adored working with his family. They were SO sweet and while their little guy was shy at times, he gave me the best smiles.

Mama wore a beautiful blue dress that is new to the client wardrobe this year. I love this color because it looks great on everyone and the dress itself is very versatile. It’s perfect with and without a bump and flows nicely, making it not only flattering but easy to chase your toddlers.

Prior to meeting up at Sherwood Island, Mama also had a chance to get pampered by one of our hair and makeup artists, Sonia Michelle. I know that some Moms wrestle with the idea of taking time for themselves, but carrying a baby is hard work! Hear me when I say this Mama…you deserve to be pampered and feel beautiful for your maternity session!

In a season full of unpredictability, I am so thankful that I took the leap into offering a full, custom client experience. Gone are the days of stressing over what to wear or not feeling confident in your appearance. I’ve taken care of all of that so that your only focus is on making memories with your family. Newborn Photography at Sherwood Island in Westport, Connecticut

I never thought I'd be doing newborn photography at Sherwood Island, as newborn sessions are traditionally indoors. But once the pandemic hit, I had a choice. I could either crumble with the changes or pivot and still find a way to create beautiful images (and capture memories) for my clients. And honestly, it’s been such an unexpected surprise-I have loved these outdoor newborn sessions.

As Collective members, this is my second session with this beautiful family. Earlier in the summer, we photographed their maternity session at Waveny Park. Mom wanted to continue their theme of everyone in white and I loved it! We chose different fabrics and textures for both her dress and big sister so that it didn’t feel like they were wearing the same thing. I loved how it all came together, especially against the rich greens at Sherwood Island Park.

This sweet boy was an absolute dream to photograph. He was so content in his swaddle and loved to be held or in the Moses basket. I don’t use a lot of “props” for my newborn sessions, but I have found that the Moses basket allows me to get some variety (especially of just baby) but also gives parents some comfort instead of just having baby on the ground. Not to mention, it’s absolutely precious for sibling photos.

Big sister was SO excited and I loved hearing all about her baby brother. She loved to give kisses, and in between wanted Mom and Dad to swing her or Daddy play airplane. And it’s these moments that aren’t as easy to capture during traditional studio or in-home newborn sessions.

Family Session in Westport at Sherwood Island

There is a photo from this family beach session in Westport at Sherwood Island that stopped me as I was editing. It wasn’t a photo I took intentionally, but one of those in-between moments of Mama and her baby girl. I shared it on Instagram with the following caption:

“Motherhood is full of highs and lows. It’s days where you count down the minutes until bedtime only to lay in bed missing your baby. It’s balancing career and family. It’s constantly thinking of someone else first. It’s celebrating every milestone and crying in the corner because your baby is growing up way too fast. It’s the best, hardest job in the world, and it’s my honor to capture these moments for my clients. I promise you will want to remember these days forever.”

All of these things are true. I experience it as both a mom and a photographer. I don’t encourage documenting milestone sessions as a way to book more sessions. I do it because I KNOW how important it is. I know how quickly time goes. I know that on their 8th birthday you’ll find yourself looking back at all of their baby photos (that may or may not have been me recently!).

From this sweet girl’s backyard newborn session to her milestone session on the beach, she has grown so much. Her family has grown so much. And my gosh, she couldn’t be any more adorable!

I am so excited that we are working on filling the walls of their home with their beautiful family portraits. As their girls grow up, they’ll be able to see themselves and the memories they have created with each other and Mom and Dad over the years.

From the Digital Design to a Wall Gallery in Your Home

Do you want beautiful framed portraits of your family in your home but feel overwhelmed by figuring out what photos to use, what frames will look best, or even where it will all go? If that’s you, know that you are not alone. Many of my clients have said the same thing to me over the years. After putting all of the what if’s aside, investing in education, and choosing to build a business and experience I am passionate about (read more about the why here), you no longer have to make those decisions alone.

My goal is to make it as easy as possible for my clients so that they can be constantly reminded of the beautiful family they have built.

Step 1: Select a Wall

Deciding where you want to display your portraits is the first step. Do you want your portraits in the center of your home where you can see them every day? Do you want your portraits where guests can see them? Or would you prefer them somewhere more private like a bedroom or playroom? Do you want a statement piece or a gallery of images collected over time?

Once we decide on a space, I’ll have you take a photo of that wall. The photo needs to be taken as straight on as possible and tape up a piece of computer paper for size reference. This is something that you can do prior to your reveal and ordering appointment if you have an idea of what wall(s) you want to use. If you aren’t sure, we will go through it together during your appointment.

Step 2: Digital Design

I use an online design program that allows me to import the photo of the wall(s) from your home and insert possible design options. We will determine if you prefer an asymmetrical or symmetrical design and if it will need to be a stand-alone gallery or grow with your family over time.

What I love most about this program is it allows me to be able to show you a finished digital design to scale so that you can really visualize what it will look like in your home, with your furniture and paint colors!

Step 3. Select Your Portraits

This is probably the step that is hardest for clients, especially for newborn sessions! I get it, you want every photo on your wall, but that’s just not practical! Usually, once we have the design that looks best on your wall and know the photo orientation we need (portrait vs landscape), everything usually falls into place pretty quickly.

First, we narrow down what type of photos you want - family, siblings, individuals of children, etc. Then we will go through the gallery and pick similar photos and start putting them into the digital frame design. I have found that once we get to this point and start putting them into frames, favorites tend to become obvious!

Step 4: Select a Frame

While finalizing your favorite images, we will also start to see what frames you gravitate towards. I think this may be my favorite step in the process (up until the final reveal!). Selecting the frame really brings your portrait to life. When selecting a frame, we will consider the portraits you’ve chosen, the style of your home, your furniture, and overall decor style. We have several options to choose from including whites, silvers, distressed, grays, golds, and a farmhouse style.

Step 5: Prep Images for the Lab

At this point, I take care of the rest. I go through the portraits to be printed with a fine-tooth comb and apply any final editing touches. We make sure they are 100% perfect and send them off to the print lab to be printed and framed. All of your portraits are printed on fine art paper and then matted with a conservation mat board before being framed!

Step 6: Quality Check

Before you ever see your frames they will have gone through multiple quality checks between the lab and then once they arrive at my studio in Darien. I go over them very carefully to make sure they are flawless. In the event that there are any damages during shipping, I send it back to the framer to be fixed or replaced.

Step 7: Install

Finally…the day we have all been waiting for - your install! Many of my clients have told me that hanging frames was too stressful and they would either avoid it altogether or were not 100% happy with the final result. I get it. I used to feel the same way. But after investing in education and spending many hours learning how to professionally install frames, I really enjoy this part of the process.

Prior to your install appointment, I will have you prepare the wall we will be using and make sure I am able to access it easily. Once I arrive in your home I’ll lay out your frames for you for one final approval before I begin installing. After that, I encourage you to go spend time with your family or do something fun while I do all of the work! Once I have completed the install I will have you and your family come in for the final reveal!

FAQs

Can I change the photos in the frames myself?

No, you cannot. Professionally framed prints, like the ones we offer, will come with a dust cover on the back. This protects your image from dust or other particles that could damage it. You can, however, still, have your prints switched out by me or a professional framer.

Where do you buy your frames?

All of our frames come from a custom framer!

Do I need to have the same color scheme?

There are two things to consider when thinking about a color scheme - the colors in your home and then the colors in your wardrobe. The latter is especially important when doing multiple sessions.

Neutral or soft, muted colors not only photograph best for my style but also produce more timeless portraits. This is important for making sure they will work in your home for years to come regardless of any decor changes. In addition, when doing multiple sessions, it’s easier to coordinate and ensure they will provide a cohesive look throughout your home regardless of how much time passes between sessions.

What do you mean by designing a wall gallery that grows with my family?

If we are going to design a wall for your family to grow, we are often looking to fill a large space, and/or the client is doing multiple sessions with me. For example, many of my first-year collective clients know they want to select 1-2 images from each session but have it be one big gallery. During their first design appointment, we will design the wall gallery in its entirety so we know what the end result will look like. Some clients will choose to wait and install at the very end while some clients will want to install as we go.

Documenting Your Baby's First Year | CT Newborn and Family Photographer

Documenting your baby’s first year is so special (and important!). You can choose to do 3 or 4 sessions, including maternity, newborn, sitter (6-8 months) and/or a first birthday session. All of their major milestones and memories will be documented and preserved for you to enjoy for years to come, and one day, pass down.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve had the joy of photographing these two brothers and now I get to photograph their baby sister! We did an announcement session, a beach maternity session, and now the much anticipated newborn session in my studio in Darien!

Everyone was so excited to welcome Elle into their family. And my goodness, she is SO sweet! She has a headful of brown hair, the cutest little lips and was truly just a dream to photograph.

Mama had her hair and makeup done by Angelina with BeautyMarked Studio). She looked absolutely stunning and I love the dress she chose. It’s a light gray BHLDN dress that sets off the shoulder and has the most beautiful detailing.

Newborn Studio in Connecticut | Darien, CT

This handsome little guy and his parents came to my newborn studio in Connecticut from New York City. Hal is just one of many babies born during the pandemic that I have had the honor of photographing. I cannot tell you how much joy it brings me to be able to provide these families with a some sense of normalcy and celebrate their new baby.

During Hal’s newborn session, Mom and Dad were able to share with me what it’s been like living through a pandemic in New York City while preparing for the arrival of their first baby. I am truly amazed by their strength and ability to see the good despite how hard it’s been.

I have heard many times now, “I’m getting time with my baby that I wouldn’t have otherwise.” And yes, it’s come at a HIGH cost, but what a blessing to have to focus on amidst all of the heartache.

Darien Newborn Studio

Once at my studio in Darien, Mom was able to relax and be pampered by my amazing hair and makeup artist, Angelina (BeautyMarked Studio) while I started with photos of Hal. He gave me a smile right off the bat, and I knew we were going to be good friends!

Mom wore one of my absolute favorite dresses from the client wardrobe. It’s a blue floral dress that is perfect for everyone - whether you are pregnant, postpartum or chasing toddlers. I love it for both studio and outdoor sessions.

Why I Offer Frames and Why I Think You Should Have Them In Your Home

When I met my husband in junior high (yes, that’s right junior high sweethearts!), we were just small-town kids with big dreams and puppy dog eyes for each other. We have both always been driven and incredibly hard-working, but I don’t think we could have ever imagined the life we have built together. We went to college together and then moved to Northwest Arkansas, where I attended law school and he got his MBA. After school, we finally got married :). I practiced law for 5 years (I still have my license in Arkansas) in various specialties.

But once we had our son (and later, our daughter), that dream shifted and I knew I was meant to be home with our children.

That decision didn’t change who I was at my core, though - a go-getter with a heart to serve others. I wanted both motherhood and a fulfilling career, but I honestly had no idea what that looked like.

At that point, we had moved a couple of times and I was starting to do more and more photography (I took my first photography class 11 years ago when we lived in Scottsdale and have been educating myself ever since). Fast forward a few years and we moved to Darien, CT and I knew it was time for me to either do something with photography or be done. Thankfully that go-getter in me won and here we are today.

Why do I tell you that? Because photography isn’t just about taking pretty pictures…and it certainly isn’t about having photos sit on a hard drive for you and your children to never see again. It’s about your story - your family's story. Whether you married your junior high sweetheart or met as adults, the life you are building matters, and where there is life, there is a story to be told.

What Do Frames Have To Do With It?

I mentioned before that we have moved a few times (5 to be exact). With every move, I have found that the first thing I want to do is get our family photos hung on the walls. It wasn’t until the last couple of years that I realized why. These photos of my children and our family bring me so much joy every single day. To see their little faces, our family, and the life that my husband I have built together, is a constant reminder of just how blessed we are.

I want my kids to see that too. I want them to know HOW much they are loved, and give them a sense of home and true belonging.

& I want that for my clients too.

So this past year when I made the decision to start offering a more full-service experience, offering frames was my number one priority. But I knew that I would have clients that were hesitant. Gallery walls can be intimidating and if we’re being honest….they can test a marriage! HA!

The whole goal of the KWP experience is to eliminate stress from start to finish. This includes the design, ordering, and installation of your frames. I’ve poured my heart and soul into education over the last year to be able to confidently provide and execute frame installation for my clients.

There is nothing more fulfilling than being able to install a gallery, step back and call for my client to see it for the first time. Their reactions continue to affirm my decision. But I am not sure anything beats the reactions that I get from the kids. The joy, the sense of pride, and their ability to see themselves in their family… is priceless.

But I will take you through every step of the process, from choosing the wall, picking a frame, visualizing how a gallery can grow over time with your family, and finally the installation. No more stress over holes in the wall, crooked frames, uneven spaces, arguments with your spouse….or worse, not ever doing it at all.

This is where motherhood and career have come together for me. It’s the ability to be available for my children while serving other Mama’s and making sure they are able to look around the walls of their home and experience the same joy that I do.

Summer Maternity Session at Waveny Park | Darien, CT

This summer maternity session at Waveny Park is still pulling at my heartstrings! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I have been talking a lot lately about legacy portraits. There is something truly incredible about bringing generations together and documenting their family lineage and history. Grandma is a huge part of their family and lives with them in their Westchester home, so it felt right to have her join us!

I never would have understood it as a child, but now as an adult, I would do anything to have more of those photos of me and my grandparents. I can’t help but think about how sweet it is that this sweet girl and her soon-to-be baby brother will have these memories. And the fact that I get to make sure they do is quite an honor.

Maternity Photos at Waveny Park in July

July can be either be really nice or really hot, but despite the heat, the photos always turn out to be some of my favorite. The greens over the summer at Waveny Park tend to be a little softer, and then combine that with a golden sunset, and it’s a photographer’s dream!

I love that Mama wanted them to all wear all white. She chose two different dresses from the client wardrobe that coordinate well and had different textures. The first has the most beautiful lace detail around the shoulders and neckline, and the second has become a very popular off-the-shoulder dress with lace detailing throughout.

Both dresses work well for maternity, newborn, and family sessions and available to all KWP clients!

Big sister wore a sweet little white dress and could not have been more precious with her pigtails! She loved it when Mom and Dad would swing her, but the tall “wheat” grass was definitely her favorite. She pretended to make bread with it and had the best little imagination. Oh to be that little again!

I am so excited that I get to photograph their sweet boy and watch him grow over the next year. Be sure to follow along!

Beautiful Outdoor Newborn Session in Family's Backyard | Darien, CT

I am so excited to share this beautiful outdoor newborn session with you from this past summer. When I was looking back over all the families I had the opportunity to serve in 2020, I realized there were a few sessions I still needed to blog! First up, this family that I have come to adore!

Catherine had reached out to me at the end of 2019 after their family moved from New York City to Darien. They decided to join us for the KWP Santa Experience. Perry wasn’t so sure about Santa but thankfully was okay with Mom and Dad signing up for the First Year Collective to document her baby sister’s first year!

Little did we know what was just around the corner with Covid.

Two months into it, they celebrated the birth of their baby girl, Samantha!

No matter how hard I try, I am not sure I’ll ever understand what it’s been like for all of the families that have welcomed their babies into this world during the pandemic. And while I know newborn photography isn’t necessarily at the top of the list of priorities during a pandemic, I also know there has been a greater sense of need to have photos with your loved ones.

I am thankful that my families have trusted me to be able to adjust and still create beautiful art for them despite it not being “typical.” It’s in these moments that I’ve found I am more creative and there is more to their photos…now more than ever. One day when Samantha is older and she looks back on her newborn photos, her parents will tell her that they were taken in her backyard in the home she came home to in Darien.

Can you imagine the stories they will be able to tell her? Yes, many of them hard. But it’s my hope that the photos we have created together during this time can counter the hard with just a little bit of joy.

Maternity Photography in CT | Beach Maternity Session

Once the pandemic hit last year, I had a lot of time to really evaluate my photography business and why it’s so important to me to offer maternity photography in CT. I truly believe that maternity sessions aren’t just about you. They are about documenting photos your kids will treasure.

If this year has taught me anything, it’s how important it is to not only hold those you love close but have photographs of them too. And how special will it be one day when you can hand your son and/or daughter photos that date back to the time they were growing in your womb. Pretty special, huh?

I also think maternity sessions are a way to connect with your spouse and your older children. The dynamic of your family is about to change drastically - more for some than others. But regardless of what that looks like, take an hour and soak it all in while I document it. I promise you’ll only regret not doing it.

I absolutely adore this family and SO glad that things started to open back up in Connecticut so we could meet up at the beach in Westport for their maternity session. It’s going to be so fun watching their baby girl grow this next year as part of our First Year Collective!

Baby Photographer in Darien, CT | Studio Newborn Session

One of the best parts about being a baby photographer in Darien, CT is being able to witness the look of absolute joy, love and wonderment. Seeing parents light up gazing at their brand new baby (no matter how tired they are!) never grows old. And being able to give them photos that will last a lifetime brings me so much joy!

This beautiful baby girl could not have been any sweeter for her studio newborn session. Sometimes babies will sleep the whole time, others are really alert, and then some give me a great mix of both like little Syndey! Sydney was so adorable and content that we were able to get a lot of variety.

Speaking of Sydney- isn’t that the cutest name? She is actually named after Sydney Australia as her Dad is from Australia! While it’s a long way from there to Greenwich, CT, I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to meet and serve their little family!

Hair and Makeup + Wardrobe for Mama

Angelina with Beautymarked Studio met us at the studio to give Mama a beautiful glam look for her session. She looked absolutely stunning and her husband gasped when he saw her. It was so sweet and such a beautiful reminder that as much as your newborn session is about your baby, it’s also about you as a couple.

Mama chose two dresses to wear from the client wardrobe. First was a simple white Show Me Your Mumu dress and then a gorgeous BHLDN dress. The lace detail and beading is beautiful and definitely one of my favorite dresses.

First Year Collective | First Birthday Photoshoot at Sherwood Island

I’m not sure how this little guy’s first year went by so fast, but here we are wrapping up his first year collective with his first birthday session at Sherwood Island. We started at the park and then finished up on the beach! It was the perfect evening to celebrate Brayden, and I can’t wait for you to see just how happy this sweet boy is!

Joy. That’s the word that instantly comes to mind when I think back over this last year with baby Brayden. I’m so honored Mom and Dad trusted me with these precious memories. I’ve loved every second I’ve spent with them and watching Brayden grow from a teeny tiny newborn to this bright-eyed, happy, almost walking one year old has been incredible.

Buttt…lucky for me, Brayden is being promoted to big brother and I get another year with these three and baby boy #2!

Newborn Photography CT | First Year Collective

I have been doing newborn photography in CT for a while now, and it’s never lost on me how blessed I am to call this my job. Not only do I get to photograph the most amazing families, but I get to snuggle babies all the time! And I can’t wait to introduce baby Dakota (or Coco as they call her) to you on the blog today!

I’ve been looking forward to meeting this sweet girl ever since Mom and Dad’s Weed Beach maternity session. She couldn’t decide if she wanted to be awake or asleep - giving me the most perfect mix of sleepy photos, and ones looking at Mom and Dad. So much personality already and I love it. Lucky for me, she’s a first year collective newborn and I’ll get to see a lot more of her over the next year!

I photographed Coco’s photos in my Darien newborn studio. To start, Mom had her hair and makeup done by Aliza Noelle Beauty. She looked absolutely stunning and you’d never a new baby was keeping her awake around the clock!

I loved the white Free People dress that Mom brought with her. Yes…we all know that I love white, but it’s because I love how simple and timeless it is, especially for newborn photos!

Connecticut Maternity and Newborn Photographer | Fairfield County, CT Photographer

I absolutely adore this family and love that I get to not only be their Connecticut Maternity and Newborn Photographer but also their neighbor! They moved into their home the same month that we did almost 4 years ago. I am still not sure where all of that time went…or how I am photographing their second maternity session, but here we are and I am SO excited to share it with you!

Would you believe me if I told you we did their maternity session at Weed Beach during power outages? Hurricane weather had blown through Fairfield County the day before but it was beautiful outside, so we decided to go forward with their beach maternity session. Angelina with BeautyMarked Studio did her makeup outside on the porch and Sam did her hair in the car where she could plug in her curling iron. Told you we were determined, HA!

After getting creative with the getting ready process, we headed to Weed Beach. Sam and Ryan have the cutest little towheaded boy, Jack, and we had so much fun during their session. I think I took one of the most epic photos ever of Dad throwing him up in the air, and then caught some of the sweetest moments between Jack and his momma. Jack is going to be the best big brother to his baby sister. I will be sharing their studio newborn session soon!

Sam wore a soft pink floral dress from the client closet and Jack is wearing one of my favorite little knit rompers. I love the stripes on the beach!
